Oz

Wow, Australia was a little bit like coming home after almost 20 years, when I was there last time to study some English and travel for 11 months. And now I was so lucky that my friends Sarsha & Tom, who I've met in Myanmar in December, have invited me to their home in Sydney where I stayed a few days. Thanks a bunch guys!

Now this time I only had a very short stopover in this great country, but I would not miss visiting some of the most beautiful places down the east coast. So I flew to Cairns to do some diving with some awe-inspiring sea turtles & eccentric fish, sailing around the Whitsundays and its stunning Whitehaven Beach, and visiting Fraser Island, where one could stay half a lifetime and still being blown away by the magic & beauty of this amazing place.

Of course some things have changed during the last 20 years, tourism has developed more and prices have gone up quite a lot, but still, it's a gorgeous country with heaps of friendly people, very easy to travel and whenever you wish to stay abroad for a first big trip or for a motorhome tour after retirement, just go for it!

Now I'm already in Auckland, New Zealand since a few days and I gave myself a short travelling break. I bought myself a second hand car and will start my walkabout Kiwiland tomorrow which will take me a few weeks :-)
