Cuba libre

Cuba is free! Well, some parts maybe a little more than others ;-) Overall it definitely was a very different and interesting experience to be in Cuba. You can see the effects of 60 years with Fidel Castro and his interpretation of Communism, then there is so much change going on nowadays, and also at times it felt like the country is being overrun by tourists from all over the world. You'll find so many contradictions along the way, rich & poor, modern and run down, from new cars to old timers to horse-drawn carriages, exorbitant prices for bad service and then again super friendly hosts at our Airbnb, being helped or getting ripped off, drama queens in a drunken taxi, and tons of other stories. From time to time all this contrast were a bit hard to digest, but lucky us we also found a few gorgeous places like Cayo Santa Maria to wind down and relax. I'm really curious where this peculiar country will be in 5 or 10 years, please let me know should your trip lead you there.

Magic Galapagos

If I had to choose the best part on this three months trip, it'd be definitely the Galapagos islands. This 8 days on our boat were just so much filled with magical experiences and encounters, I'm still dreaming of it today. Also thanks to our great guide RubĂ©n we spent a wonderful time on our little Yacht the Aida Maria while visiting a selection of the islands that belong to the Galapagos. It was as if you'd be wandering around an open air zoo but this was all real and free now and all the animals we've seen were just huge, beautiful, awesome and blessed with spirit. And then sleeping on deck through the night and watching the stars above... it's beyond words. Moreover we enjoyed the great food on board, snorkeling, visiting a few villages on the island, the drinks before sunset... and and and. And of course this was probably a rather expensive part on my trip, but I'm sure as nothing that it was worth every penny. Thank you so much!
